Immediate Dismissal of Joint Tax Board Secretary and Head of Enforcement by Transport Union

The need for comprehensive tax reform and revenue optimization demands a careful examination of current circumstances. On September 30, 2023, members of the Transport Union, representing all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, convened to scrutinize President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu's GCFR Administration's earnest efforts and policies aimed at resolving the complexities of multiple taxation on interstate roads throughout the nation. This gathering is in response to the Joint Tax Board's hasty, poorly thought-out initiative, lacking a clear approach or understanding of the necessary methodologies for successful implementation.

In her eagerness to satisfy the state governments and their respective Revenue Services, the JTB secretary left the single haulage initiative vulnerable to the whims of the state Internal Revenue Services, thereby endangering the enforcement of the Single Haulage Fee initiative.
