Norwegian company Fluenta has announced the successful completion of its work at Africa's largest oil refining facility, the Dangote Refinery in Nigeria. Fluenta has installed 18 ultrasonic flare gas meters on major pipelines around the plant, enabling accurate emissions monitoring.

This development aligns with Nigeria's efforts to control and regulate gas flaring and ultimately eliminate routine flaring in the coming years. Accurate measurement is a key component of these efforts.

The Dangote Refinery has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of oil per day, enough to meet Nigeria's daily fuel supply needs with a surplus for export.

Fluenta worked closely with its Nigerian representative, Daptem Engineering, and the Dangote project team for over four months to create a reliable flare measurement solution tailored to the refinery's specific needs. This endeavor presented engineering challenges due to the variety of pipeline sizes, ranging from 18 to 90 diameters, and the high CO2 content in the flared gas, which is difficult to measure using ultrasonic technology.
